William "Richard" Jhant, 63, of Rock Hill, passed away on Saturday, October 27 at home after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late John P. and Ruth Neely Jhant. Richard was retired from Catawba Nuclear Station where he worked for over 25 years as a Nuclear Security Specialist. Richard is survived by his wife, Cathy Caveny Jhant, his daughter, Heather Jhant Wurdemann; son-in-law Aaron Wurdemann and his three precious grandchildren, Bree, Carlee and AJ. He had one brother, Tony Jhant of North Carolina and one sister, Theresa J. Bishop and her husband, Dean, of Georgia. He had one brother-in-law (and faithful friend), John Caveny and his wife, Heidi, of Rock Hill. He had three nephews, Drew Caveny (Courtney) of Rock Hill, Mike Jhant (Denise) of North Carolina and Paul Jhant (Rowena) of Texas and one niece, Kayla Caveny of Rock Hill. Richard is also survived by his extended family - Billie Ann Caveny, Cathy and Jack Armstrong, Kenny Hargett, Billy and Shelly Hargett and their children. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 29, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.
