Richard A Mills

Richard A. Mills, Sr., 80, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 20, 2015. He was born in Middletown, New York on July 14, 1935 to his parents, Robert L. Mills and Olive Wickham Mills. He is survived by his fiancée and life partner, Gisele Perrotta, his son Richard and his wife Beth, his son Scott and his wife Lisa, his daughter-in-law Robin, eight grandchildren, Danny, Lara, Alex, Brian, Michael, Andrew, Taylor and Justin, and Gisele's children, Christina and her husband Tim, and Jay Jay. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert, and his son, Glenn.

After earning an Associate's Degree from Orange County Community College, Richard served in the United States Army for two years. From 1962 until his retirement in 1994, he had a long and distinguished career as a claims manager for Allstate Insurance Company. He was active in several organizations in the Middletown, New York area, including the Monhagen Hose Company No. 1, the Board of Trustees of the Middletown Fire Department and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1097.

In 2006, Richard realized a dream of retiring to South Carolina with Gisele. He was active in the Tega Cay Vintage Club, Tega Cay Veterans' Association and Tega Cay Par and Bar. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Mets, and he had a passion for playing golf. He enjoyed traveling, and he treasured spending time with his beloved family and friends.

A celebration of Richard's life will be led by the Rev. Dr. Joanne Sizoo at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 W. Hwy 160, Fort Mill, SC, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to the Tega Cay Veterans' Association, c/o Chuck Gross, 4081 Point Clear Drive, Tega Cay, SC, 29708.
