Rk Robert Nelson

Rk Nelson, 70 of Fort Mill, SC and formerly of Jefferson Hills, PA and Townsend, GA passed away at home on Thursday, November 28th. He was surrounded by his family.

Rk was born in McKeesport, PA on October 25, 1949. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School. He went on to Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a BS in Zoology in 1972. He had spent his career in international and domestic freight business for over 30 years.

He was formerly a member of Amity Presbyterian Church in Dravosburg, PA where he held positions as an Elder, Deacon, Clerk of Sessions and choir. He was a current member of Unity Presbyterian in Fort Mill, SC.

Rk was a active member of the Dolphin Project in Savannah, GA and avid animal lover. He travelled around the world, but his heart never left Alaska, where he spent his summers in his youth.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Cassie Jane Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol A. Nelson; a daughter Kellie Nelson (Amanda Bolt) of Charlotte; a son, Rk Pittman Nelson of Charlotte; his father, Frank P. Nelson of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Cindy DiLavore (Pete) of Melbourne, FL; along with extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 AM at Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill, SC with a reception following. Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Palliative and Hospice of the Palmetto Region, Humane Society of York County or Unity Presbyterian of Fort Mill, SC.

A memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at Amity Presbyterian Church in the new year. Details will be forthcoming.
