Robert H. Barnes

Robert Harrison "Bobby" Barnes, 76, of 912 Glasscock Road, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Chester County, Robert was the son of the late William Thomas Barnes Sr. and the late Janie Allen Barnes. He was retired from Celanese after 36 years, a member of The American Legion Frank Roach Post 34, and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ft. Lawn where he served as trustee. Mr. Barnes was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict and A National Guard veteran. He coached Little League Baseball and Pee Wee and Gra-y Football in Lesslie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Dale Barnes and two brothers William Thomas Barnes, Jr. and Jack Allen Barnes. Surviving are his wife Catherine Roddey Barnes; three children Debbie Barnes Allen and husband Scott of Rock Hill, Mike Barnes and wife Denise of Lancaster, Pat McFadden and husband Jimmy of Rock Hill; five stepchildren Debbie Baker and husband Reid of Lancaster, Susan Morris and husband Lou of Charlottesville, VA, Mike Roddey and wife LaVerne of Rock Hill, Tracy Roddey and wife LouAnn of Ft. Lawn, Pat Roddey and wife Linda of Ft. Lawn; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Friday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Barnes will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Ray Robinson and Reverend Jimmy Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 397, Ft. Lawn, SC 29714
