On Wednesday, August 17th, 2022, Robert (Rob, Robbie) Earl Compton passed away at the tender age of 37 due to injuries suffered in an auto accident on Hwy 49 in the Steele Creek area of southwest Charlotte, NC. Robert was born on February 25th, 1985, in Palos Heights IL, to Patricia A. Compton Kammer, and Jeffrey A. Compton. Robert attended Joliet Catholic Academy High School in Joliet IL, where he was part of the JCA Football Family, and received an Associate’s Degree from Central Piedmont Community College (with honors) in Charlotte, NC.
Robert was many things to many people; son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, business partner… but mostly Robbie was the guy who would drop whatever he was doing to make time to help his family, friends, neighbors and just about anyone else who asked. A gentle bear, who always greeted you with a hug, a smile and a (loud) laugh, he will be terribly missed by all who came to know him.
Not a hunter, not a conservationist, yet he loved nothing more than being on his land, planting and growing small crops, and target shooting every chance he had. He loved to crank up the 70’s and 80’s rock that his mother raised him on while diving into one of the many rehab projects that consumed his downtime. He loved knowledge, was a voracious reader, and enjoyed having a good debate or discussion about whatever subject that might interest you. He simply loved engaging with people.
Robert was preceded in death by his maternal Grandmother Mary Jane Martinez (ne; Murphy), Aunt Shannon P Bogan (ne; Griffiths), Grandparents Robert and Dorothy Compton. He is survived by his mother Patti, his sister Erin, his father Jeff, his Uncle Jeff Bogan, Cousin Seamus Bogan, Aunts and Uncles, Joseph Compton (Linda), James Compton (Mare), Barbara Castaneda (Dave), Beverly Reiner (Edward), Bernice Compton, Jack Compton (Denise), Bonnie Rudzki (Brian), Betty Kreis (Mark), Brenda Compton and Patrick Doyle, Beth Ann Foster (Lewis) and 29 cousins.
Their will be a memorial gathering and Celebration of Life on Saturday September 10th, from 1pm to 6pm at the Hickory Tavern in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte NC. Stories will be told, glasses will be raised, Robert will be remembered for the man that he was!
In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Roberts Memorial Fund which will go toward paying his expenses. https://gofund.me/8708794c
