Robert S. Lang, Sr., “Bob”, 75 of Fort Mill, South Carolina, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 21, 1945 in North Charleston to Joe “Sim” and Bessie D. Lang.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Leon Lang, Theodore Lang, E. J. Lang, Oliver Lang, Ruby Crocker, Rita Gartman and Mary Croft.
Bob graduated from Gordon H. Garrett High School in North Charleston, SC. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam as an Army Security Agent as a Specialist E-4. During his time in the Army he received a National Defense Service Medal and became an Expert Rifleman. He was proud to serve his country and call himself a Veteran. Once returning home to Summerville, SC he answered the call from the Lord to go into the ministry full time. Over the next 50 years he would pastor 8 churches, where he also served as the Church of God of Prophecy Pennsylvania State Treasurer for 2 years, South Carolina State Evangelist for 1 year and the Charleston Area District Overseer for over 15 years. He closed out his ministry at the Fort Mill Church of God where he was honored to serve as the Senior Adult Pastor for the last 18 years. He always looked forward to the first Saturday of the month where he would gather for a meal and singing with his faithful “Young At Heart” Seniors. He also answered to the title “Spreacher” given to him by his beloved “Refuge” Sunday School class that he lead for 22 years.
Most important to him was his family, but he would be quick to tell you that his greatest accomplishment in life was being called, Husband, Dad and Nandad!
He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, his wife of 57 years, Joyce Lang; daughter, Myree Lang-West (Trae) of North Charleston, SC and son Robert S. Lang Jr. (Ashley) of Rock Hill. Grandchildren Matt and Connor Macko of North Charleston, SC and Mary-Elex and Robert “Chapman” Lang. Siblings, Dewey Lang (Ann), Richard Lang (Joan) and Pat Cheverie (Bob); along with a host of nieces, nephews and his best friend, Harold Douglas.
