Robert Walter Nivens Sr.

Robert Walter Nivens, Sr., 73, of Rock Hill, passed away peacefully Friday, November 3, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 18, 1944 in Rock Hill, son of the late Caldwell and Emma Louise Morrison Nivens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Adams and Johnny Adams. Robert retired from Keystone Tubular after 20 years of dedicated service, where he received multiple awards. He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing and working on classic cars. Robert was a born and bred farmer and always kept an immaculate garden. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Sue Adams Nivens; sons, Robert "Rob" W. Nivens, Jr. and fiancé, Kristi of Rock Hill and Chad S. Nivens and wife, Melody of Fort Mill; grandchildren, Amanda, Harlie, Travis, Gavin and Christian; brothers, Marion Nivens and wife, Barbara of GA, William Nivens and wife, Linda of Rock Hill and Ray Nivens and wife, Brenda of Rock Hill; sister-in-law, Judith Jones and husband, Buddy of Lumberton, NC; and brother-in-law, Doug Adams and wife, Karen of Rock Hill. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 PM, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:30 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Hospice Care of SC for their loving, supportive and compassionate care.
