Lancaster - Robert Michael "Mike" Parker, 56, of 1128 Hawthorne Road, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, at Cornerstone. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday, at Whitesell Funeral Home.
A native of Union County, Mr. Parker was a son of Robert Louis Parker and Edna Helms Parker. He attended Parkway High School. Michael was a loving father and husband. He worked in grading and construction since 1976. He worked for Crowder Construction Co., McWhirler Grading, CMI Contracting, and most recently employed by Hunter Construction Group. He was a very dedicated, hardworking grading superintendent. Michael was well known all over the construction world as "Parker". He loved going to work everyday just to talk and play in the dirt. Michael and his wife attended Carolina's Cornerstone Church in Fort Mill. Other than his love for grading, Michael loved working in his yard, shopping for antiques with his wife, cooking his famous weekend breakfast, and playing with his grandchildren. Michael never met a stranger and always had time for a good conversation.
Surviving are his wife Patricia "Denise" Elms Parker, his son Jason Parker and his wife Rebekah of Heath Springs; two daughters, Annie Ridgill (Brad) of Sumter; April Parker (Slim) of Waxhaw; three sisters, Linda Couick (Ronnie) of Waxhaw, Betty Griffin (Larry) of Indian Land, Kathy Bass (Larry) of Waxhaw; and 6 Grandchildren.
