Robert Zane Smith

Mr. Robert "Bobby" Zane Smith, Sr., age 84, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home in Fort Mill. He was born, weighing just over 2 lbs., at home in Waxhaw, NC to the late Charles W. Smith and Margaret Gordon Smith and spent his first night in a small box by the fire before being taken to the hospital the next morning. Bobby was retired and was a former carpenter and long haul truck driver before finding his true passion of raising mules and participating in parades and historic trail rides.
He is survived by his daughters Janet Smith Bedenbaugh and Robin Smith Marchin, sons-in-law William R. Bedenbaugh and Kevin J. Marchin; one sister Margie Smith Hamilton. He was preceded in death by two children Robert Zane Smith, Jr. and Julia Smith Hensley, two brothers and six sisters. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at Flint Hill Baptist at 10 AM with the Reverend Shannon Duncan. The family will receive family and friends following the service at the church fellowship hall.
