ROCK HILL, SC - Mrs. Roberta Sanders Honeycutt, 89, passed away on July 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
Throughout her life, Roberta was known as a devoted wife, compassionate caregiver, beloved mother, loyal friend, and nurturing grandmother - her kind heart, memorable laugh and gentle spirit will forever be cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Idle Sanders and Arzada Brown Sanders.
Raised on the Catawba Indian Reservation, Roberta took great pride in her heritage. At the age of 22, she met the love of her life, Earl, falling in love at first sight. Family was an integral part of her life which she made apparent in the love she displayed. As the family grew, their home was a gathering spot for the neighborhood kids, family and friends – where visits always included a good country meal, and of course, mad baking skills! Her tidy nature was a blessing with a home full of six children and their friends, whom she taught to properly wash their hands. From the birth of her first child to the youngest of the great grandchildren, she could be found in the stands at sporting events to cheer them on. Adventurous at heart, Roberta enjoyed traveling for leisure or to visit family across the country, and always welcomed a trip of any kind. After 25 years of dedicated service as a Stringer, she retired from Star Paper Tube where she made many friends. In her spare time, she could be found taking walks at Cherry Park, tending to her flowers, working in the yard, or challenging someone to a mean game of SkipBo.
She was loved by many, including her husband of 66 years, Earl Honeycutt Sr. Together they created a beautiful life with sons, Troy Honeycutt (Joy) and John Honeycutt (Amy), and daughters, Renee Martin (Randy Turney) and Delois McDaniel (Sonny). In addition, she was adored by her many grandchildren Troy Honeycutt (Candace), Trisha Honeycutt, Sandy Bailey (Jason), Bryan Martin (Candace), Daniel Martin, Ashley Honeycutt, Jackie Keefe (Kaleb), Earl Honeycutt III (Courtney), Robert Honeycutt, Brittany McDaniel, Joshua Honeycutt, Jacob Honeycutt, Caleb Honeycutt, and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mahovie Bryson. She was greeted in heaven by her sons Earl Honeycutt, Jr. and Robert Honeycutt, and siblings, Blanche Dora Sanders, Kirk Sanders, Herman Sanders, Catherine Canty, Eula Watts, Jack Sanders, Thomas Sanders, Fred Sanders, William Sanders, and Vivian Wiliford.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Honeycutt will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11:00am at Grandview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorial donations may be made to The Shriners Children Hospital, 990 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
