Robie Boyce Garris

January 28, 1937 — April 24, 2023

Indian Land, SC

Robie Boyce Garris (86) of Indian Land, SC returned to the arms of God on Monday, April 24th.

Robie was born in Lancaster, SC the only child of the late Robie Bell Garris and Laura Williams Garris.

He was born in Lancaster, SC and raised in Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member. Upon moving to Indian Land, SC he joined Harrison United Methodist Church where he worshipped for 33 years. At Harrison he served his church well as a Trustee, choir member, and greeter. In the years at Harrison it was, "Call Robie, he’ll fix it” and he would head straight there to resolve the matter. It was his passion to help in any way possible. Being Gods House, it was his ministry.

He was employed by Springs Industries for 13 years and Westinghouse / Siemens Corp. for 32 years. Robie had a strong work ethic. He was loyal to his employers and believed that every work-day must include fun and laughter.

Robie was a collector of people and that was so evident in every breath he took. When anyone needed a listening ear, warm hug, or encouraging word he did all he could to brighten their day. He was a master of bringing joy and laughter to almost any situation. This joyful nature and positive attitude along with his passion for Christ, life, and love for all people motivated him in life to live by example.

Robie was first a child of God and his love of Christ was reflected in his love, respect, kindness, and compassion for all. Continue his Legacy by laughing, loving, forgiving, respecting, and caring for others and he will be cheerleading you on from above.

He was our Angel on earth but now, as an Angel in Heaven we can assure you he is the “Life of the Party” singing Amazing Grace with pure tears of joy and ecstatic fulfillment in the Kingdom of God.

As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Robie is survived by Joyce Morgan Garris, his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, his children Randall (Joanne) Garris, Tess Garris Sims, Dennis (Chris) Garris, David Garris all from the Lancaster area. DeRhonda Nobles (Tim) Owens of Mullins, SC and Sonya (Paul) Cooper of Waxhaw, NC, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Michael Anderson of Fort Mill, SC. A true and most loyal friend that walked alongside Robie until the end. Also, Gary Earleywine of Sarasota, FL. Robie and Gary could fix anything.

His senior swim group at the Springs Complex is now missing their “Mayor” but he will miss them more.

And to his caregivers of the last 19 months from the memory care unit of The Haven in Pineville, thank you for your loving care of our precious Robie. We hope he brightened your days.
