Ronald Ashley
ROCK HILL - Mr. Ronald Dean Ashley, 69, died Friday November 8th, 2013, at his home.
He was born November 16th, 1943 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Albert Ashley and Mollie Spittle Ashley.
Mr. Ashley is survived by his daughter Cynthia D. Ashley of Rock Hill, S.C., son Daren Ashley and wife Laura of Rock Hill, S.C., a sister Judith Posvar and husband Ron of Indian Land, S.C., 4 grandchildren, Zachary Ashley, Jamie Sturdivant, Will Ashley, and Anna Ashley; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan Sturdivant, Dakota Ashley, and Colton Ashley; and special friend, Peggy Brown. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Eugene Ashley of Indian Land, S.C..
Mr. Ashley was raised in Indian Land and spent his youth roaming around 6 Mile Creek with his brother, cousins, and friends. He attended Indian Land High School where he participated in football, baseball, and basketball. His love of the outdoors continued throughout his life . He usually could be found fishing and canoeing with his loyal companion Cotton. He was also a glider pilot and in the past spent many hours soaring over the countryside. He was a talented woodworker like his dad and enjoyed reading and studying Civil War and South Carolina history.
For those who knew him closely, he was an independent soul and lived life his way. For that, he was deeply loved and will be truly missed. Per Mr. Ashley's desires, there will be no funeral services. The family will schedule a memorial gathering at a later date.
