Rose Ann (Nunn) West

Rose Ann Nunn West, 65, of Rock Hill, SC and formerly of York, SC, peacefully passed away on Sunday August 15, 2021. Born December 12, 1955, Rose Ann grew up in Tirzah, SC as the youngest of the seven children of the late Thornwell Wesley Nunn and Marie Inez Garrison Nunn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Jinks West, brothers John Wesley Nunn and Perry Steve Nunn. She is survived by her sisters Martha Eleanor Nunn Burk, Eula Leona Nunn Doss, Mary Nunn Carlson, Betsy S. Nunn, and Janice J. Nunn Bolin, as well as her daughter Jennifer Lynn West.

Rose Ann loved animals, especially cats & kittens.  She enjoyed going for walks and looking at the flowers in her garden, especially the roses.  She enjoyed spending time with her church family and attending functions at One Accord Ministries of Grace in Winnsboro.  Rose Ann West was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, and she had no doubts about her own salvation.  More than anything, Rose was contagiously happy and loved sharing that joy with others.  Ask anyone who knew her – no one gave better hugs than Ann!

In 2019, Ann began to develop Lewy body dementia, as had her brother a few years before.  Her neurologist suggested to her daughter that a Neuropathology Autopsy might provide some answers about a potential hereditary link.  Ann’s daughter Jennifer began doing her research, which led her to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center.  After learning more about them, the family applied to donate her brain to this very important research.  Her daughter encourages others to reach out to HBTRC if Lewy body dementia is affecting your family.

Following her brave and loving donation to science, Rose Ann will be cremated.  A memorial service for family & friends will be at a later date.
