Roy Bernard Miller went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 10:45 am. His viewing will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. on Tuesday, February 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
His funeral will be held at the same location on Wednesday, the 12th at 1:00 pm and his interment will take place at Calvary Church, Pineville NC in the Magnolia Memorial Gardens behind the church at 3:00 pm.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Wilda Victoria Miller and their children Janice Lynn and her husband James Schwartz, Sheree Lee and her husband Carl Swanson and Stephen Roy Miller.
And the following grandchildren Allison Elizabeth and husband Robert Murray, Jamie and James Schwartz, and Phillip Schwartz, Kristy Lee and David Childress, Kimberly Melissa and Shawn White. Great grandchildren Lilly Elizabeth and Logan James Murray, Jocelyn
Olivia and James Douglas Schwartz, Chloe and Ava Childress, Seraphina, Brynn and Adalyn White.
Roy's nephews and cousins in Canada include Lance and Rose Miller, Alan and Carolyn Miller, Earl and Mary Miller and Inez Miller (now living in Michigan).
Roy was born to parents Frank and Audrey Miller on May 29, 1927. He was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada. As a young man he was a talented musician. He enjoyed playing the trumpet, piano and marched in the Wallaceburg Kiltie Band. He married Wilda Victoria Wright on January 3, 1948. Soon after marriage, they moved to Toronto, Ontario
where Roy was employed in the tool and die industry. The Millers also lived in Chatham, Ontario and migrated to Warren and Rochester Michigan. Roy continued in the field of tool and die for the rest of his life. He was the owner of Harmony Products in Romeo , Michigan and later worked for Plastec of Rock Hill SC.
Many of his church friends will know him by his ministries at Berean Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Hazel Park, Michigan.
Roy served in many musical capacities. He was an integral part of the choir singing a deep bass. He would provide accompaniment with the piano. organ and trumpet. At the Hazel Park Church he was choir president and arranged choir presentations even in Paris, France. Additionally, he was involved in the radio and television ministries of Calvary Baptist.
Roy also served on multiple church boards.
In his retirement he became involved in the creation of stained glass art work even recreating Monticello and the USS Constitution in stained glass. Additionally, he served with JARS, a missionary aviation organization, using his tool and die talents to repair mission airplanes.
