Rock Hill - Mrs. Ruby Lee Howard Elms, 86, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Brookdale of Ebenezer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Carolinas Cornerstone, Fort Mill with Rev. Barry Yates and Rev. David Brannen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
A native of Union County, NC, Mrs. Elms was a daughter of Edward Howard and Minnie Fincher Howard. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers. She was an excellent cook and never allowed anyone to leave her home hungry. She retired from K-mart. She was a charter member of Carolinas Cornerstone and she will be remembered as a prayer warrior who lifted up many people in prayer.
Surviving are her son Buster Elms (Jackie) of Indian Land; three daughters, Sandra Hood (Jim) of Indian Land, Betty Bukovac of Chester and Denise Parker of Lancaster; a brother, Dewitt Howard of Monroe, NC; 10 grandchildren, Penny Herrin, Tracey Hill, Jimmy Hood, Kitty Payne, Buddy Elms, Jason Parker, Wendy Spitz, Ashley Elms, Annie Ridgill and April Parker; and 12 great-grandchildren, Justin Hill, Alayna Hill, Marie Tumaniec, Braxton Elms, Anna Bedoui, Jacob Parker, Raleigh Parker, Amir Bedoui, Michael Spitz, Katherine Spitz, Kirsten Spitz, and Jaxon Elms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sloan Stroud Elms, Sr.; a daughter, Kitty Devinney; a grandson, Andy Bukovac; two brothers, Jay Howard and Bill Howard; and three sisters, Georgia Love, Willene Presson and Margie Elms.
