Ruth Lietha Carpenter Mrs. Ruth Lietha Carpenter, age 73, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ruth was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota and raised there on the Lietha Farm. She graduated from St. Cloud State University and went on to travel the world as a Northwest Airlines flight attendant. In 1965, Ruth married Patrick Carpenter. They settled in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where they raised their three daughters. In the rest of her career days, Ruth worked as an elementary school teacher and school counselor. She continued her education by obtaining her masters degree and EDS in teaching and counseling. She watched her daughters grow up and marry men who became devoted sons-in-law. She also experienced the joys of having many precious grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Cyrilla Lietha; her husband, Patrick Carpenter; and her granddaughter, Clara Elizabeth Wallace. Ruth is survived by daughter Karen Carpenter Pilcher, married to Travis Pilcher with children Faith, Grace, Eli, and Ian; daughter Amy Carpenter Kule, married to John Kule with children Katie, Michael, Mary, Anthony, and Elena; daughter Janet Carpenter Wallace, married to Brett Wallace with children Emma, Eliza, and Jenna; and sister Karol Lietha Gabrielson, married to Terry Gabrielson with children Susan Gabrielson Fulton, married to Michael Fulton, and Lynn Gabrielson. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The funeral will take place on Friday, February 13 at 1 p.m. at The Oratory, 434 Charlotte Avenue in Rock Hill. Everyone is welcome to follow the family to the graveside service after mass.
