Sally Ann Durst

Rock Hill – Sally Ann Durst, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Hospice House.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Whitesell Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Hyland, Rev. Sam Murphy and the Rev. Jeffery McWatters officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Sally was born in New Castle, PA and was a daughter of the late Frank John Durst, Sr. and Julia Ethelreda Kelley Durst.  She moved with her family to Rock Hill, SC in 1981.  She moved to Spartanburg, SC in 2018, for the first time on her own, as a part of The Charles Lea Center.  Sally thrived in her independence and enjoyed all of the programs that The Charles Lea Center offered her.  She loved the ladies that she lived with in her group home and the staff that cared for her during her stay.

Sally's disabilities were not as severe as most with Noonan’s Syndrome.   She was always treated the same as the rest of her siblings and enjoyed all of the opportunities that life offered her.  She loved people and especially enjoyed eating and going to parties and weddings.  Sally loved to dance and was quite the "party animal".  In her quiet time she enjoyed coloring pictures that she loved to give as gifts to her family, friends and to anyone who helped to take care of her.  She loved watching cartoons in her room and playing with her match game.

Sally is survived by her sister and legal guardians, Kathy and Greg Cook; sister, Gloria J. Tomlin (Phillip), and brothers, Frank J. Durst, Jr. (Renee), and Thomas A. Durst (Barb); four nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; and seven great-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her niece, Michelle Eddington.

Sally was loved by everyone that knew her.  She was a sweet, gentle and kind soul.  She was appreciative to everyone who did anything for her and always said thank you.  She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank The Charles Lea Center for their loving and professional care provided to Sally in the last 2 ½ years.
