Sandra Stone Bonds

Sandra Olive Stone Bonds, 82, of Fort Mill, SC, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was at home, surrounded by her loving family. Sandra was born August 16, 1938, in Florence, SC, daughter of the late Edgar Francis Stone and Jessie Sims Stone Holcombe.

Love defined Sandra's life.  She loved her Lord, her family, her friends, and life itself. She loved spending time with family and friends as often as possible. Her gift from God was hospitality, and she was the consummate hostess.  One of her greatest joys was cooking whatever family and friends would enjoy. Her beautiful smile lit up the room, was contagious, and invited everyone into her caring, kindness, and hospitality.

Sandra had a great love of the arts, especially music. She played the piano beautifully until her hands became arthritic. Sandra also had a lovely singing voice and sang in her high school chorus, in several church choirs, and the Fort Mill Community Chorus. She loved theater and performed in several Fort Mill Community Playhouse musicals. For years, she and a group of friends went to New York City to attend Broadway shows, concerts at Carnegie Hall, and visits to the art museums.

Sandra is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Joe Bonds; three daughters who adored her, Karen Bonds of Fort Mill, SC, Wendy Bonds-Chapman (Larry) of Bishopville, SC and Kathryn Kilpatrick (Michael) of Clover, SC; a grandson, the apple of Mimi’s eye, Connor Stone Kilpatrick; her loving sister, Frances Wilson of Pawley's Island, SC; several nieces and nephews and a host of special and devoted friends.

The family will hold a private interment service. An event to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at a future date.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the many kind physicians who cared for Sandra over the years and to the Hospice team at Providence Care, who provided unwavering compassion and supportive care to Sandra and the family in her final days. The family is also grateful for our church family and friends' love, support, and prayers. Sandra's family will never forget your kindnesses.
