Sara Hood Culp

Sara Hood Culp 96, of Fort Mill passed away 10/25/21 at her home surrounded by family. Born in Indian Land, S.C Mrs. Culp was a daughter of the late Willie Hood and Sadie Belle Potts Hood. She attended Indian Land School, and married soon after.

She was a member of St John's UMC. She called the church her family and home. She loved her church. She taught the A.O Jones class for awhile. She was a very active member of the U.M.W and circle chair person for 16 years. She worked at Springs Mills for 33 years. After retiring she sat and tended to members of the church and visited and helped care for 12 of her neighbors who were shut-ins, while still working at the Peach Stand for 7 years. She loved taking care of senior citizens.

She finally retired at 80 years old. (Her dear friend, Ralph Stikeleather was her soulmate for 19 years. They looked after each other till he passed on in 2017)

Surviving are her daughters, sons and two brothers; Patricia Laughridge, Indian Land, SC; Terry Kearns (Johnny) Fort Mill, SC; Gene Culp (Sandy) Lake Ariel, PA; Tim Culp, Fort Mill SC.

She has thirteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hazel Culp (1987); a daughter Shirley Culp Spinks (1974)

Her service will be held Saturday Oct 30 at 11:00 AM at St John's United Methodist Church with a visitation at 10 AM with Rev. Karen Radcliff officiating.
