Sara Joyce Marshall Griffin

Sara, 87, of Indian Land peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 12 at Wellmore of Tega Cay surrounded by her loving family. Sara was born on August 27, 1935, in Lancaster, SC, daughter of the late Sam and Cora Marshall.

In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers, her husband, Jack, and grandson, Jacob Earnhardt.

Sara loved the great outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. She also loved touring the country with her husband, Jack. Sara traveled throughout South Carolina and other southeastern states watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She and Jack were sports enthusiasts and were given Lifetime Athletic Booster Club memberships by Indian Land High School.

Raised on a farm in the Elgin community, Sara was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She took loving care of her family and friends. Most of all, Sara loved her Lord and Savior. Until her health declined, Sara was an active member of Belair United Methodist Church where she always enjoyed the sounds of the church through gospel music, the warmth of fellowship, and her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Church, family, friends, and sports were her life.

Sara leaves a legacy to be cherished by the surviving members of her family. Her son, Keith Griffin and wife, Judi, of Fort Mill, her daughters, Beverly Griffin, of Indian Land, Karen Patterson and husband, Tommy, of Indian Land. Sara was blessed with eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Gladys Moore of Rock Hill, SC.

Visitation with the family will take place at Belair United Methodist Church in Indian Land, SC on Tuesday, August 15 at 2:00 pm. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 in the sanctuary.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all the staff of Gentiva Hospice and the staff Wellmore of Tega Cay. Your kindness, support and loving care of our mother will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Belair UMC .
