Tootsie Baskin
ROCK HILL - Sherleen "Tootsie" Baskin, 90, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jack Walters officiating. Visitation will be held at Whitesell Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2013, 6 pm to 8 p.m..
Born in Rock Hill, S.C., Tootsie was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mae Cox. She worked at the Aragon and Industrial mills. She attended Richardson Beauty College in Charlotte, NC. Upon graduation she opened Baskin's Beauty Shop and later became co-owner of Just Hair Beauty Salon where she worked until age 86. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a life member of the UMW.
Tootsie is survived by her two daughters, Lydia Baskin Williams, husband Larry, and Jennifer Suzanne Tutterow, husband Dennis, all of Rock Hill, SC, five grandchildren, Sherl Drawdy, husband Brian of Rock Hill, SC, Marty Williams, wife Laura of Fort Mill, SC, Zoe Tutterow and Leven Tutterow of Rock Hill, SC and Timothy Workman, four great-grandchildren, Aby Willliams, Megan Williams and Nathan Williams of Fort Mill, SC and Corbin Drawdy of Rock Hill, SC and her sister, Christine McManus of Great Falls, SC and her sister-in-law Lucy Cox of Rock Hill, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rex Baskin, her sons, Charles Rex Baskin, Jr and Robert Timothy Baskin, her grandson, Charles Rex "Chuckie" Baskin, III, 4 brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made in Tootsie's name to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1232 Curtis Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
