Shirley H. "Lee" Smith

Shirley H. "Lee" Smith, 72, of 369 Church Street passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 1:00am at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. Mrs. Smith was born in Milford, DE, on October 13th, 1938 to the late Justus Holt and Helen Morgan Hudson. She started her many careers with Dr. Robert Reed in Delaware and then took a position with Avon products in sales, eventually rising to district manager. Later she became an advertising executive with the Delaware State News. Mrs. Smith also proudly owned and operated The Bag Lady, Rock Hill's first consignment shop, for 15 years. After ending her business career she became a master gardener. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Fred; son Edmund Alexander (Betsy) Smith and grandson Justin of Atlanta, GA; son Clayton Christopher Smith and grandson Clayton II of Sarasota, FL; son Fred (Melanie) Smith II and granddaughters Kailyn and Kimberly of Charlotte, NC; and sister Joyce Lorraine (Bruce) Herrington and niece Stacey of Milford, DE. Services will be held at the Hospice & Community Care Center chapel at 11:00 on January 22. 2011 with Reverend Lee Dye officiating.
