ROCK HILL - Steven Ralph Broome, 57, died Friday, January 28,2011, at Agape Rehabilitation Center, of Rock Hill.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Cherry Road.

Steve was born in Rock Hill, the son of Sarah Johnson Broome and the Late Henry Ralph Broome. He was retired from Queen City Appliance and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and loved to hunt and fish.

We have many memories of our father. Like every family, there were good times as well as bad. One thing about Daddy, you always knew where you stood, and he let you know very quickly if he didn't agree with a decision you had made.

We never went anywhere with him without at least one person stopping to speak with him. Some of our favorite memories are of him teaching us to drive and allowing us to race golf carts at the golf course. One time we almost drove the cart into the lake (oops)! Although most of our time with him was on weekends, he always assured we had a good time. Sundays with Daddy were guaranteed to begin at church, followed by lunch at either the Shrimp Boat or the Chinese buffett, then off to Carowinds for the afternoon. While he would never go on rides with us, he accompanied us throughout the park and ensured we enjoyed ourselves. Of course, we also had the requisite fishing trips. There were many a Saturday spent either in a boat or on the bank of the river with a fishing pole in hand. He would never admit it, but he was always upset when we caught bigger fish than him. Our Daddy meant so many things to so many people, but to us he was just "Daddy".

He always had a positive outlook no matter the circumstance. We know that every day of our adult lives, he spent in pain. Yet, he continued on in his daily routines trying to ensure happiness in our lives.

While the past few years of our lives have been riddled with uncertainty, one thing that we were always sure of was our father's love. While there is a great emptiness that was once filled with his presence, we know he is in a better place and is no longer suffering. He was blessed to have the love and support of so many people, and for that, we are thankful.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Angela "Angel" H. Broome; his daughters, Marian Leigh Brome Carnes (Frank) and Jennifer Ann Broome, Brandy Borodin, Christian Jasper, and Andrea Hughs; sons, Gerian Terry, Jay Andrews, and Micah Jasper; his brother, Tim Broome (Shirley) his grandchildren, William, Delaney, and Warren Carnes, Kylie, Madison, Issiah, Allyson, Devin, and Courtney, his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Doris K.;
neice and nephew, Andy and Amanda.

The family will recieve friends Sunday, 2:00-3:30 pm at Calvary Baptist Church and again Monday, 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitesell Funeral Home and other times at 2223 Sunset Road, Charlotte, N.C., 28216.
