Sue Ann Martin, age 81, passed away on Saturday, January 5 at Blount Memorial
Hospital after a long illness. She was born on August 18, 1937 to Marvin and
Susan Middlebrooks, both of whom predeceased her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lisa Glasgow (Jimmy) of Greenback
TN, Jean Martin of Cary NC, and Bill Martin (Carri) of Morristown TN; her
grandchildren: Josh Glasgow (Brandi), Jordan Glasgow (Julia), Sarah Rowe (Nate),
and Stephen Martin (Michelle); her great-grandchildren Lily, Luke and Kinsley; her
sister Jean Kalich (Billy) of Victoria TX; a host of nieces and nephews who loved
her dearly, and her dear friend Jean Lanning (Don) of Rock Hill S.C.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Sue lived in several states and in Germany as her
father was transferred throughout his military career. After attending William
Woods University in Missouri and Jacksonville State University in Alabama, she
was married to C. Douglas Martin from May 21, 1958 until his passing on October
16, 1997. Sue's life was centered around her family and extended family, with all of whom
she stayed in close touch and encouraged with frequent phone calls and cards.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm Friday, January 11 at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens in
Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 12:00-12:45 P.M. at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Blount Memorial Hospital for the
special care and compassion provided to Sue during her illness, and to the many
friends of the family who have extended their love and support during this time.
Arrangements are being coordinated by McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home
in Maryville TN, and Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC.
