Sumpter "Sonny" Cornwell Iii

Sumpter "Sonny" Davis Cornwell, III, 72, of Rock Hill, SC passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013. Born in Rock Hill, SC, Sonny was the son of the late Ruby and Sumpter Cornwell, Jr. He was a member of First A.R.P. Church. Sonny was also a member of the Rock Hill Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Cornwell. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Cornwell; 2 sons, David Cornwell (Terri) and Michael Lockridge (Jodie), both of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter, Kelly Cornwell of Rock Hill, SC; 2 sisters, Barbara C. Loflin (Ray) of Rock Hill, SC and Becky May (Virgil) of Soddy Daisy, Tn; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Sonny will be held 11am Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday, August 12, 2013 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home of the son David Cornwell, 4632 McConnells Hwy, Rock Hill, SC.
