Suzanne Elizabeth Hertzel-Nelson

Suzanne Elizabeth Hertzel-Nelson went home to be with the Lord on July 30th, 2021, while surround by a community that loved and cherished her. Suzanne is survived by her three daughters, Melissa Taylor, Stephanie Lopes (Daniel), Kathryn Goodwin (Steven); two granddaughters, Savannah & Faith Taylor; and sisters Karen Pratt (Bruce), Linda Hartkopf (Doug), and Deborah Curran (Hank). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was born on the 22nd of May 1959 to late Norman Edwin Hertzel and Barbara Amelia Gutowski Hertzel.  Suzanne was the 2nd oldest of four children. Growing up, Suzanne loved to play softball, dance, and quiet herself with needle work. As she got older, crocheting, working out in the pool, walking, gardening, reading the Bible (Word of God) and puzzling became her leisure activities. Suzanne pursued a career as a dental assistant and loved what she did. Her heart’s desire was to move to the Carolinas from New York. In December of 2015/January 2016, she moved to South Carolina to be with her daughter, grandchildren, and parents. She quickly fell in love with the community. Over the past 6 years, Suzanne would plug herself into bible studies, fellowship, and helping others. She was quickly remembered as being loving, sweet, caring, thoughtful, giving, enthusiastic, and an amazing woman of God.

Suzanne has three beautiful daughters she loved with all her heart. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was so thoughtful with every gift she bought and gave. Her Christmas shopping started the day after Christmas and was done by September! Suzanne had a couple of sayings for her girls. The first was, “I love you to the moon and back again.” The second was, “I am better than yesterday; however, not as good as tomorrow.”

Family and friends will celebrate Suzanne Elizabeth Hertzel-Nelson’s life with a memorial service and reception on August 21st, 2021, at 2pm located at Antioch International Church (453 Glynwood Forest Dr., Fort Mill, SC 29715).
