Terry Donald "Don" Sides, loving husband, father, grandfather, and teacher, 75, passed away July 10, 2017 at Carolinas Health Care Center, Pineville, NC.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Hudson, NC on July 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 with burial service following. The Reverends Mack Jarvis of the Church and Dr. Terry Moore of Weddington United Methodist Church of Weddington, NC will preside.

Don was born in Lenoir, NC to Fred and Bessie Sides on September 8, 1941. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1960 and was then drafted into the United States Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Don completed his teaching degree and began teaching Graphic Arts at Hibriten High School in 1971. Don retired from the Caldwell County School System and Hibriten High School after teaching for 32 years. He is a member of Hudson First Baptist Church. Don, most commonly known by all as "Pop," loved spending time with his family, "chillin and grillin," and telling stories and jokes. Pop held a very special place in his heart for his children and especially his grandchildren; there is no place he would rather be than by their side, hanging out, and just being with them.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie Sides; two brothers, Earl and William "Bill" Sides; three sisters, Norma Jean Caudle, Mary Dean Norris and Nina Hollar.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Sides; son, Todd Sides (Tamara) of Mooresville, NC; daughter, Carla Sides Stallings (Todd) of Waxhaw, NC; brother, Fred "Toot" Sides of Lenoir, NC; sisters, Brenda (Bud) Dula and Reba Rose of Lenoir NC; grand-children, William "Will" Sides, Nicholas Stallings, Grayson Sides and Alexandra Schaffer; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hudson, 345 Main Street Hudson, NC 28638 or Weddington United Methodist Church, 13901 Providence Road, Weddington, NC 28104.

The family also thanks Dr. Earle Burgess and his staff with Levine Cancer Institute, Pineville, NC and the staff of Carolinas Health Care System, Pineville, NC. We are blessed to have such wonderful family and friends who have supported us during this most difficult time.
