Terry Lee Thompson

October 8, 1951 — August 12, 2024

Rock Hill

*Terry L. Thompson** of Rock Hill, SC, was healed spiritually, physically, and mentally, and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 12th, 2024. **No more pain**. Terry was born on October 8th, 1951, to Willie B. Thompson and Estell Hinton Thompson.

Terry graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1970 and attended York Technical College. During high school, Terry played football, basketball, and softball. He continued his love for softball by playing with St. Mary’s softball team and developed a passion for golf. Terry was also a member of the high school singing group, "The Froot Loops."

**“Why We Are Together”**

*“Nonconformity and self-dependence have always been my thing, and I guess that’s the reason The Froot Loops exist. The people that make up the group are self-reliant, self-dependent, and non-conforming. Never following any set pattern or rule, The Loops set their own patterns and examples. They do what comes naturally to them, being free and independent in mind, body, and spirit. We banded together because we shared similar ideas, and our purpose is to try and help our communities, better them, and better ourselves.”* – TLT

Terry worked as a pressroom supervisor at the Evening Herald newspaper, with Thompson Concrete Construction, and retired from Champion Roller (American Roller) as a supervisor.

Terry loved to read, write short stories and poems (with some songs being copyrighted), and he had a fondness for washing dishes and cooking. He gave his life to Christ as a young adult and was an active member of Pineville Church, where he served on the Trustee Board, the Steward Board, the Usher Board, and as a Pastor Steward. Terry never met a stranger and was known for his generosity—he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. To truly understand Terry, you had to know him. He loved all types of music, from Gospel to Country Western, and even taught his daughter to dance to Country Western music.

Terry was preceded in death by his son Derrick Gabriel, daughter Natrisha Credance, his father Willie B. Thompson, his mother Estell H. Thompson, and three brothers Willie L. Thompson, Beacher C. Thompson, and Rodney C. Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Rosa S. Thompson; his two sons, Terrance (Sandra) and Andre’ (Rebecca); one daughter, Adria; six grandchildren, Phillip (Alisa), Tyrece (Brandi), Octavius, Jayde, Terrance, and Bryson; seven great-grandchildren, Julian (Melissa), Justice, Kamren, Jordan, Kayden, Antowine, and Marcus; two brothers, Michael Thompson (Cynthia) and Donald Thompson; bonus brother JT Simmons III (Clarissa); two sisters-in-law, Mabel M. Thompson and Vickie B. Thompson; a very special cousin, Addie Hinton; a bonus sister in Christ, Eyvonne Cherry; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his Pineville AME Zion Church family.

**Matthew 7:1** "Judge not, that ye be not judged."

A celebration of Terry's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at Pineville AME Zion Church.
