Our loving mother, The Reverend Linda Eve Hofmann Manuel, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2022. Linda was 77 years old and was surrounded by her sons and their wives when she passed.
Linda was born to Max and Marian Virginia Hofmann on May 4, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended The Bryn Mawr School, in Baltimore, MD, where she excelled in her studies and extracurricular activities. She then graduated from George Washington University, where she studied Political Science and Psychology. It was during that time when she met J. Robert (Bob) Manuel III, in Baltimore, MD. They married in 1966 and had two sons, Joseph Robert Manuel IV and Timothy Andrew Manuel. Bob’s career moved them around, from Culpepper, VA to Caparra, Puerto Rico to Fairfield, CT to Sewickley, PA.
Linda had a passion for ministry and was a Coordinator of Christian Education at several parishes over the years. In 1997, Linda completed her Master of Divinity Degree from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge PA. She successfully renewed two failing Pittsburgh area churches and served as interim priest for several others. Bob and Linda moved to Georgetown, SC in 2006. Linda continued her ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina and attended Prince George Winyah Parish Church.
In 2013, Linda was called to plant a church in the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina. That church plant became Grace Anglican Parish, a mission church, in 2014 (www.graceanglicanparish.org), and it is still in existence today. In 2016, Linda and Bob retired to Sun City – Carolina Lakes in Fort Mill, SC to be closer to their grandchildren.
