Thomas Gene Cherry

Thomas Gene Cherry, 71, of 720 S Herlong Avenue, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 at home. A native of York County, Mr. Cherry was born April 20, 1938 a son of the late Heyward Cherry Sr. and the late Sarah Agurs Cherry. He was retired from Celanese and Rock Hill School District Transportation Department. Mr. Cherry was a member of Faith Christian Ministries and was a US Army Veteran. Surviving are his wife Marian White Cherry; three children Nicolas Cherry of Hagerstown, MD, Juan Cherry and Arie Dionne Cherry both of Rock Hill; a sister Mildred Kennedy of Chesilhurst, NJ; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Ruby Cherry and Ibra Richardson both of Rock Hill; a brother-in-law John Ferguson of Yonkers, NY; one aunt Thelma Caldwell of Rock Hill. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cherry will be held 2:00pm Sunday in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to Faith Christian Ministries PO Box 10366 Rock Hill, SC 29731 and Hospice Care of South Carolina 1230 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
