Mr. Thomas Duncan, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at his home. A native of Rock Hill, Thomas was a son of the late John Henry and Emma Cavney Duncan. Born March 1, 1924 he worked as an industrial electrician for many years before his retirement. Thomas loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his yard dearly. He served his country honorably during WWII in the U.S. Army, and was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Lou Hammond Duncan, his second wife Elaine Hegwood Duncan; one son Thomas Randal Duncan; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are a son Jimmy Duncan and his wife Kathie of N. Augusta, SC; two sisters Mary Duncan Lewis and her husband Al of Pineville, and Olivia Stalcup of Rock Hill; one brother Richard "Pete" Duncan of Rock Hill; two granddaughters Kara Duncan Gaylord and her husband Chip of Alexandria, VA, and Laura Duncan Randolph and her husband Tyler of Alameda, CA; one great-granddaughter Caroline Ramsey Gaylord; Elaine's children Joyce and Marie, grandchildren Emily, Caroline, Tish and Wes, great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. A service to celebrate Thomas' life will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Ebenezer A.R.P. Church with Rev. Dr. R. Boyce Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Park - S. Cherry Road with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
