Thomas Jerry Gardner

Thomas Jerry Gardner, 72, of Rock Hill, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at his residence. A native of York County, Mr. Gardner was born June 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas Watson and Addie Ashley Gardner. He was retired from the City of Rock Hill Fire Department where he was a Battalion Chief. He was a mason, founding member of Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department and member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in York. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Linda Gardner. Surviving are his wife Mary Joe Carroll Gardner; a daughter Angela McGill and her husband John of Ft. Mill; a son Steve Gardner of the home; two precious grandchildren Caroline and Caleb McGill of Ft. Mill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gardner will be held Thursday at 11:00am at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Reverend Daniel Smoke and Reverend Dr. James McGill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regency Hospice, 420 S. Herlong Avenue, Suite 104 Rock Hill, SC 29732.
