Vann Alton Palmer

Vann Alton Palmer, born on July 29,1997 and left this world on October 30, 2023, leaving a void that can never be filled. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He could take the ordinary and make it extraordinary through his silliness and wit. When you were with him you were always laughing. He always had such crazy, funny sayings. When you said something, you immediately knew he was going to respond with one of those sayings too. Vann has taught us that it is always better to be unapologetically yourself, that laughter is the best medicine, and that the bass can always be louder!

Vann was born in Portsmouth, VA to Steve and Audra Palmer. The family moved to Fort Mill, SC when Vann was five years old. He graduated from Fort Mill High School in 2015, where he was a member of the 2014 State Champion Lacrosse Team. After high school, Vann continued playing lacrosse at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. He realized he preferred working with his hands versus listening to lectures, so he returned to SC and attended York Technical College, earning his degree in Machine Tool Technologies. He worked in this field immediately upon graduating.

Vann continued his love of lacrosse, staying involved by coaching. But his biggest passion was fast cars. He was a member of multiple car groups, attended local car meet-ups and made numerous friendships with like-minded car enthusiasts.

In Vann’s words, “Family is everything,” and this is a legacy that he left. Vann always added joy and laughter to his family gatherings, creating lasting memories. He is survived by his loving parents, Audra Lawless Palmer and Steve Palmer, his sister Sam Palmer, grandmother Sandi Lawless, uncle Chris Lawless, aunt Sara Smith, cousins Danielle (Dylan) Schulte, Mackenzie Smith, and Zach Smith.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary Palmer, Gloria and Gunther Hugo, and Edward Alton Lawless. They have undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in heaven where they rest in eternal peace.

Vann’s spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and although deeply missed, his memory will always make us smile. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov 11th at Lifepointe Church, 390 York Southern Rd, Fort Mill. A gathering for family members and Vann’s friends will follow.
