Fort Mill, SC Mrs. Vernie Goins Merritt 77 of Fort Mill passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. Born in Chester County, SC Mrs. Merritt was a daughter of the late Edward and Edna Reeves Goins. The family will receive friends 7-9pm Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 30th, 2015 at Lesslie Church of God, 2357 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Roy Vogan officiating. She will lie in state from 12:00pm-1:00pm before the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, SC. Mrs. Merritt is survived by her husband; James Edgar Merritt, one son; Danny Merritt of Fort Mill, SC, two daughters; Rebecca Evans of Rock Hill and Margaret Ghent of Lancaster, SC, eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
