The world may seem a little dimmer because the light that Ginger brought to the world is now taking up residence in Heaven. She entered Heaven on January 5, 2024 after a brief illness. God gave her five kids, the gift of seeing her take her last breath on earth, while realizing her next breath would be with Jesus in Heaven.
Ginger was a storyteller that could go from story to story, entertaining all those who allowed plenty of time to listen. She loved people, and people loved her. There was no such thing as "fear of man" with her. She was always drawn to the less fortunate.
All of her kids grew up having an occasional transient person stopping by our home to have a hot meal, get their clothes washed, take a shower and leave feeling respected and valued. Her unconditional love was passed on to her kids.
Ginger grew up in Clear Lake, WI where her Dad had a store. The store life became part of who she was. She worked for many stores as a cashier. She actually opened the Lund's store in New Brighton, MN as the Head Cashier and held that position for nearly 30 years.
Once again, the stories flowed from her mouth. There were several lanes open but people would be lined up in her lane just waiting to hear another story. Ginger didn't know it but she gave countless lessons in listening.
Ginger made a covenant with God to get her five kids to church on Sunday by herself, as her husband wasn't a believer at the time. She was in the choir (she sang like an angel) and we would watch the choir come down the isle to take their place in the sanctuary at St Matthew's Episcopal Church in NE Minneapolis. She kept an eye on us and we had to behave.
She was married to Marvin (Marv) Johnson for 45 years and they had: David Johnson, Kathy Johnson, Karen McNally (Steve), Dan Johnson (Debbie) and Cindy Wilson. Their Grandkids, Great Grandkids and Great Great Grandkids were very special and much loved. She made each one feel like they were her favorite.
Ginger was 4 days shy of being 91 when she passed. She loved to travel and was a great cook. Her food was made with love! She will be missed by countless people. Imagine her joy as she is now singing with the angels. Glory to you Lord Jesus!
