Wayne Stanley Taylor went home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2019 at the age of 90. He was born June 17, 1929 in Lake Placid, NY.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Calla VanWormer; father, Cecil Taylor; step-father, Sanford VanWormer; and brother, Jack Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Taylor; his children, Calla Wilcox and Doug Taylor; his six grandchildren, Sawyer, Sydney, Taylor and Campbell Wilcox and Savannah and Faith Taylor; and his sister, Cecile Dale.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He retired from AT&T after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he owned his own home repair business, home construction business and two pizza shops. He enjoyed dancing, camping, reading, writing, cooking, woodworking and coaching and refereeing soccer. He loved to vacation in the mountains where he grew up.
A very special person, he will always be remembered as a smart, adventurous, knowledgeable, generous, kind and loving family man. His beautiful smile, fun-loving personality, contagious laugh and warm hugs will forever live in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, January 23, 2019 at Grace Community United Methodist Church in Fort Mill.
