William Frederick Basgall

February 27, 1932 — December 9, 2020

William Frederick Basgall, 88, of Fort Mill, SC formerly of Chicago, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 following a period of declining health.

He was born on February 27, 1932 to the late Lawrence Alexander and Rose Barbara Schlitter. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

Bill was married to his beloved wife for 69 years. He was a phenomenal husband and father, dedicating his life to his family and constantly demonstrating his unconditional love and patience.

During his working years, he was a lieutenant fireman at a volunteer fire department, was a plant superintendent for an industrial company, and successfully owned and operated 3 different companies. He always liked to stay busy and had a curious mind, submitting patents and ideas to various manufacturing companies.

Bill was a deeply devoted Christian and dedicated his life to serving Christ. He honored the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed to her in times of need, to protect his family and for the conversion of sinners. As a faithful prayer warrior, the rosary was his weapon.  He regularly served at his church as a Eucharistic minister, spent many hours at the Eucharistic adoration of the blessed sacrament and taught religious education classes.

His constant dedication to serving the Lord, helping others and taking care of his family is a true reflection of his character.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Basgall and his wife Elsie Basgall, his sister Ruth Hall.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rosalynde Susan Mayer Basgall; son, William Robert Basgall and wife Maureen of Lake Forest, IL; daughter, Mary Cindy-Sue Torkelson and husband David of McHenry, IL; daughter, Ruth Rosemarie Niederhuth and husband Mark of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Sara Basgall, Carrie Basgall, Angela Basgall, Tracy Parr, Adam Braeckman, Sean Braeckman, Lyndsay Niederhuth and Tyler Niederhuth; great-grandchildren, Noella Bamigbola, Bryce Basgall, Noah Parr, Ethan Parr, Caleb Parr and Lexi Niederhuth.
