William Edward(Ed) Caldwell, 94, of 831 McDow Drive passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Westminister Health and Rehab. A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Caldwell was born June 25, 1915. A son of the late William Henry and Jessie Mae Brown Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Rice Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell enjoyed playing fiddle and was a founding member of the "Old Fogies" musical group. He served his country in the Wilmington, N.C. shipyard during WWII. He was retired from Duke Power and was a member of Mt. Holly United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. Surviving are three sons, Wayne Caldwell of Greenville, North Carolina, Bill Caldwell of York, and Glen Caldwell of Rock Hill. One sister Sara Barefoot of Rock Hill. Eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Caldwell will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the hour of service on Saturday at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Westminster Health and Rehab for the loving care they provided. Memorials may be made to Mt. Holly United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
