William Earl Jones, Iii

William Earl Jones, III passed away peacefully on March 21, 2018.
He was born on April 18, 1929 in Portsmouth, Va. to the late William Earl Jones Jr. and Hazel Walker. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister and a granddaughter.

Earl graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Architecture in l955. He worked for the following companies: Stevens & Wilkinson, Atlanta, Ga; Peterson & Associates, Greensboro, NC; Odell & Associates of Charlotte, NC, Professional Planning, Inc., his business for 12 years, and Mecklenburg County Plan Review, Charlotte, NC

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marianne, sons, William Earl Jones, IV, and wife Celeste, Richard David Jones and wife Hesta, Thomas Martin Jones and wife Janet and daughter, Marianne Sumner, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, brother, nieces and nephews.

His hobbies and interests were art, painting, photography, family genealogy, horses, and hunting. He loved his faithful and longtime pet, Duke, a Labrador Retriever, who predeceased him recently.

A very special thanks from our family to the outstanding people in Hospice who made his final months comfortable and peaceful with their loving care. They are a remarkable group.

The service will be held in the chapel of South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church at 8601 Bryant Farms Road, Charlotte, NC on Monday March 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Charlotte, NC.
