William "Bill" Eugene Mcdowell

ROCK HILL - William "Bill" Eugene McDowell, 83, of 400 Rowells Road, died Monday, July 1, 2014, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 4, 2014, at Whitesell Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends an hour before the service.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Bill was the son of Patrick and Birdie McDowell. Bill grew up in Salisbury, NC. He went to Wake Forest University where he majored in accounting. Bill was involved in a lot of different activities. He worked at 7-Eleven and managed 11 stores. He later had a career working on lawn mowers. He also bought a train which he restored and donated to the Town of Fort Mill. He loved to bring taxidermy animals to Brandon's school and use them to teach all the children about the different animals.

Surviving are his son, Tim Cole; and five Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Mae Porter McDowell.
