William Cornet Menzies, Jr., died March 7, 2012, at Southminster. He was born July 10, 1926, in Adams, Mass. Bill served in the Navy during WWII. He earned degrees from Lowell Technical Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He traveled the world for business and invented a device that revolutionized cashmere processing. Bill traveled widely with his wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Frances. He volunteered with the International Executive Service Corps in Pakistan and Uruguay. Bill was an avid fly fisherman and reveled in downhill skiing. A lifelong passion for calculus and higher mathematics encouraged Bill to tutor students in math. Bill is survived by his wife Mary Frances and his children and eight grandchildren: Heather M. Jones (William), Pamela M. Crump (Walker), and Philip S. Menzies (Anna). He is survived by Mary Frances' children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren: Joseph E. Jamison (Barbara), June J. Thorne (Brad), and Mary J. Fuller (Tom). Jean D. Menzies, the mother of Bill's children, also survives. A memorial service at Myers Park Baptist Church on March 10, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. is planned with a reception in the Heaton Hall foyer to follow. Bill may be remembered by supporting Myers Park Baptist Church or causes that donors choose.
