Mr. William Fletcher Sinclair, age 82, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born in Beachwood, NJ, Mr. Sinclair was raised in Toms River, NJ and attended Toms River High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954. Following his service, Mr. Sinclair worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for over 38 years as an installer and switchman.
After his retirement, Mr. Sinclair hand-built a log cabin home in the mountains of Shohola, PA where he lived for 11 years before moving to Fort Mill, SC in 2005.
A lifelong canoeist and kayaker, "Mr. Bill" spent every available hour on the water. He was a member of the Delaware River Patrol for many years and saved numerous lives. He was the oldest, active member of the Catawba Cruisers Paddling Club of Rock Hill, SC.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, George Edward Sinclair and Elizabeth Young Sinclair, and by his sister Joan "Abba" Gunther. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Rae F. (Gifford) Sinclair of Fort Mill, SC, his daughter Suzanne S. Hunt and her husband Joseph of Rock Hill, SC, and his daughter Amy S. Tischio and her husband Michael of Whiting , NJ. He is also survived by his granddaughter Emily S. Hunt, Esq. of Hampton, VA. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces and nephews, and by his friends and family at the Waffle House in Rock Hill, SC.
