Zoila Parrilla Nieves, 95, of Indian Land, SC and formerly of Puerto Rico, peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2023. She was born on June 24, 1928 in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Carmelo Parrilla and Desposoria Parrilla Guzman.
In addition to her parents, Zoila was preceded in death by her husband, Franciso William Nieves; sisters, Carmen Rivera and Celia Parrilla; brothers, Fernando Parrilla Guzman, Manuel Parrilla Guzman, Juan Parrilla Guzman, Manuel Parrilla Guzman, Herminio Parrilla Guzman; and great-great grandson, Silas.
Zoila was known as a loving mother and wife. She was a member of El Verbo Pentacostal Church for many years. Located in Brooklyn, NY. As an experienced seamstress one of her favorite hobbies was creating beautiful crochet pieces. Just to name a few, one of the pieces was a pair of mini high heel shoes and a beautiful swan that she created. She also loved sewing clothes.
Zoila leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished and loved by daughters, Lillian Samuel and Beckie Rivera; son, William F. Nieves (Aileen Nieves); sister, Isabel Parrilla; grandsons, Richard D. Samuel (Amy C. Samuel), William R. Nieves (Lisa Nieves), Matthew C. Nieves, and Joseph G. Rivera; granddaughters, Melissa M. Samuel and Wendy E. Martinez; great-grandchildren, Taylor A Meade (Austin Meade), Evan M. Samuel, and Meredith R. Samuel; and great-great-grandchildren, Taige Nicodemus, Linus Meade, Vivan Meade, and Luna Meade.
A service will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 6:00pm with a viewing after.
