David Gerard Pellman

August 1, 1959 — December 14, 2020

David Pellman, 61, of Indian Land, SC, passed away peacefully at home on December 14th. He courageously battled a grade 4 glioblastoma for 2 1/2 years.  Born in Rochester,NY he was the sixth of nine children born to Joseph and Shirley Pellman.  After college he moved to Corning, NY where he met and married Lisa Youmans. Together they moved to Hendersonville, NC. David worked for many years as a design engineer for SELEE and together they raised 2 sons. They relocated to the Charlotte area and David took a sales engineering position with Component Sourcing International.
David was always an active member of his church and was involved in Boy Scouts for many years. He enjoyed hiking, camping, riding his Harley, and a nice cold beer. He was always happy to lend a hand. An affable guy, he made friends easily, forging many life-long friendships.
There are many who will miss him and his giant “Dave” hugs.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Robert.  Surviving him are his wife and their children, Garrett (Asheville) and Noah (home);  his father, brothers Joseph, Thomas, James, Steven, Tim (Rochester), Mark (Fort Collins,CO) and sister Anne Turberg (Rochester).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
A service is planned for 1:00 PM January 9th at Messiah Lutheran Church on Providence Road in Charlotte. Social distancing will be observed and masks required. For those unable to attend, David’s service will be live streamed by Messiah on YouTube .
