James Earl Crouse (73) went to his heavenly home on March 7, 2022 following a lengthy stay at Atrium Health Medical Center in Pineville, NC. He was born October 2, 1948 to James Howard and Ellen (Howard) Crouse in Danville, IL, and was preceded in death by his parents and both sets of grandparents.
Jimm graduated from Waynetown High School (Waynetown, IN) in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a journalist / radio broadcaster. He worked at R.R. Donnelly in Indiana as a proofreader and later worked as an assistant manager at a restaurant where he met Vicki Shadoan in 1978. Jimm and Vicki married on May 9, 1981 in South Pekin, IL and moved to South Carolina in 1985. He most recently was employed by Alamo Rent-A-Car as a sales manager; leaving the company in 1994 after a lower back injury which resulted in permanent disability.
Jimm enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing with his dad, listening to a wide variety of music, leather crafting and carving, painting, and watching movies. He loved to write for as long as he could remember and in Jimm’s own words “just never got around to publishing anything until 2016 at the age of 67!” He authored God’s Rambling Ragamuffin..., an eBook series self-published through Amazon.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki, and three children, Scott (Melanie) Shadoan of Apex, NC, Steve (Donna) Shadoan of Richmond Hill, GA, and Holly (Donnie) Allen of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sister Vene Bartlett of Columbus, IN, sister Linda (Brad) Lucas of Hope, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM. Casual attire is welcomed.
