Rock Hill, SC - Walter Leonard Holland, Jr. (Bud) born 9th of September, 1936, in Wellford, SC., went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021, after a brief sickness at Piedmont Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leonard Holland, Sr. and Oleen Ramona Godsmark Holland, his wife Chiyoko Uechi Holland, of 61 years and his brother, John Denver Holland.

He is survived by 4 children:  Judy (Misae) Schuster (Reinhard), Walter Leonard Holland, III; Kike Ann Blades (Jeff Lee), all of Rock Hill.  Trose Hudson Holland (Tina Cottle), of Willington, NC.  Three sisters, Brenda Holland Parris of Rock Hill, Alice Holland Athey of Charlotte, and Judy Holland Prophet (Ronnie) of Lake Wylie.

Proudly he could name his 13 grandchildren, being:  Monika Schuster Zimmerman (Jim), of Waxhaw, NC., Dr. Marcus R. Schuster (Niki), Charlotte, Matthias Schuster (Rebecca) of New York.  Michael J. Schuster (Andrea) of Charleston, SC., Walter Leonard Holland IV, (Boyd) of McConnells, Hollie Marie Davidson (Paul); Alabama, Craythie Shell Holland, McConnells, SC., Chaz Mathias Holland and Victoria Lace Holland of Washington State.  Nina Misae Murdock (Jonathen) of Rock Hill, Peyton Lee Blades of York, SC., Grant Preston Holland and Kate Holland of Wilmington, NC.

Bud, was a veteran of the United States Air Force as Airman 1st Class.  He served 8 years in the Viet Nam War on the Island of Okinawa.  He served several years as Chaplin of the VFW Post 9138 Fort Mill Auxiliary.  He was a member of the American Legion and an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints York Ward.  There he served many callings as Ward Mission Leader, Sunday School President and Overseer of the Church Farm at the Catawba Ward.

Bud, was a master of all trades.  He worked for Catawba Timber, Westinghouse Corp., Gaulden Monuments and owned his own business, Bud’s Body Barn.

He attended Rock Hill High School, Kings Business College and University of Maryland, while stationed in Okinawa.

Including in the blessings of Bud’s life are 13 great grandchildren:  Lyric Schuster, Quinton Isabella Schuster, Misae Ellise Evans, Christopher Edward Evans, Cameron Zimmerman, Joscelynn Faire, Valerie Faire, Charlie Davidson, Corbin Davidson, Thieleena Phillips, Kamare Phillips, Ren Phillips and Cooper Murdock.

In-lieu of flowers, in Buds’ honor donations may be made to the Missionary Fund, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, York Ward, c/o  Bishop, 1159 Ross Brook Trace, York, SC, 29745, or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to express humble THANKS to Kenneth Alaiyan, for dedicated care and services to our Father and brother during his illness as well as to the nurses and staff of Piedmont Medical Center.

A Memorial Service is scheduled at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- Alexander Love Highway, York, SC on September 9, 2021, at 5 o'clock PM.
